今回のLessonは、Plastic Surgery（整形手術）の利点・欠点についてです。
まずは利点です。
■Benefits of Plastic Surgery
1. People can enhance their self-esteem (=confidence) by correcting their perceived flaws.
「自尊心(=自信)」「気になる欠陥」
Plastic Surgeryを受けることで、気になる欠陥を直し、その結果自信が持てるようになることです。その結果、仕事や人間関係がうまくいくようになるということです。
2. People can enjoy permanent results over temporary alternatives such as makeup, skincare products, or injections.
「永久的な効果」「一時的な代案」「メイクアップ」「スキンケア商品」「注射」
一時的な解決策の代案になるということです。メイクアップやスキンケア、注射などをしなくて済むようになるということです。
3. People can improve their mental wellbeing by reducing stress, depression, anxiety, or social phobia.
「心の健康」「ストレス」「うつ」「不安」「対人恐怖症」
心の健康が良くなる、という話です。具体的な語彙を２つ程度は使いたいところです
4. People can improve their physical health by correcting some functional problems such as breathing difficulties, joint pain, or skin irritation.
「体の健康」「機能的な」「呼吸困難」「関節痛」「皮膚炎」
鼻や体の形を変えることで呼吸が楽になったりとか姿勢が良くなったりするかもしれません。関節痛や肌荒れも出術を受けることで、アレルギーや炎症がなくなるかもしれません。
5. People can slow down or reverse the signs of aging such as wrinkles or sagging skin.
「速度を落とす」「反転させる」「老化の前兆」「しわ」「たるんだ肌」
今度は欠点を挙げてみました。
■Drawbacks of Plastic Surgery
1. People can encounter unlicensed practitioners that can perform unsafe procedures.
「無免許の」「開業医」「危険な」「手術」
開業医は要するに開業したdoctorのことです。ちなみにイギリスではかかりつけの医者のことをGP（General practitioner）と言います。
2. People can encounter problems such as infection, bleeding, scarring, or nerve damage after the surgery.
「感染症」「出血」「傷跡」「神経損傷」
ハイスコアを取るにはどれか一つでも上のような具体的な語彙を使えるようになりましょう。
3. People can spend a lot of money and time on the procedures and recovery.
「手術」「回復」
お金がかかりすぎることも欠点の一つとして説得力がある解答が作れるかと思います。他のトピックでもアイディアで困ったら「お金」を軸にして考えるとうまくアイディアが出ることがあります（例：都市の生活の欠点→生活費が高い）
4. People can have unrealistic expectations or dissatisfaction with the results.
「非現実的な期待」「不満」
芸能人の〇〇さんのような顔になりたい、と期待してしまい、結果そうならない、という失望感ですね。
5. People can become addicted to plastic surgery and undergo multiple procedures that can harm their health and appearance.
「中毒」「何度も手術を受ける」
前の欠点の結果としても使えそうなアイディアです。理想に近づくなために何度も手術を受けてしまい、中毒状態になるということです。
